In June 2021, Spain's National Court formally named Galán and three other current or former Iberdrola executives as suspects in a corporate espionage case. The investigation cited their alleged involvement in bribery, falsification of documents, and violation of privacy.

The case was connected to former Spanish police commissioner José Manuel Villarejo, who allegedly conducted surveillance operations on politicians and businessmen while working in the National Police Force. Galán's indictment was linked to several projects allegedly carried out by Villarejo through the Cenyt Group between 2004 and 2009.

In June 2022, Spain's High Court closed the investigation into Galán's alleged role, citing the statute of limitations.
