It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade item items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is especially useful for early game runs, because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. These can also be enhanced by using anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can be created or spawned using the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any ability that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items are available in the shop or made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased by so high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item can affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has an initial success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by an additional five percent.
