However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robotic autonomous vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and some additional cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. Additionally, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we have tested. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
