It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuum with mop vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better.
