The upgrade of your items is a vital part of equipping your character. Upgrades increase the base damage and enhancements of items.

They also offer bonus effects and enhancements. The Blacksmith is able to sell them to you.

The upgrade button is located on any Best item upgrade. Every recycled item adds one level to the upgrade gauge.

Weapon

When a weapon is upgraded, it receives a base damage bonus, as well as an increase in the scaling factor that affects other stats. There are two Blacksmiths in the game that can perform these upgrades: Blacksmith Hewg in the Church of Elleh hub area and Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor Site of Grace. The upgrade materials are both different: Smithing Stones to modify the type of damage that weapon does and Somber Smithing Stones to modify the standard weapons.

Generally, it is recommended to increase the damage of your weapon first, then armor defense, and finally the other secondary stats as required by your build. This trinket does not stack with the Heightened Senses.

After completing the Mastery Cave, you can find Trinkets by defeating Monsters and inside chests and crates in Skull Cavern. They are not in the Mines or Volcano Dungeon.

When you have a trinket which needs to be upgraded put it in the Anvil to do so. This will affect the trinket that will either enhance or intensify its effects. You can reforge a Trinket multiple times as often as you like, but it will always have a different effect than the one it was when you first made it.

You can also upgrade your Trinkets by placing them in a Magical Catalyst located at the Alchemy Station. This will cost you 6 energy and increase the power of the trinket by only a tiny amount.
