Adult ADHD diagnosis has been a challenge. Despite the recent development of machine learning methods and technologies that can help diagnose ADHD have remained mostly subjective. This could lead to delay in the beginning of treatment. To increase the efficiency and repeatability of the process, researchers have tried to develop a computer-based ADHD diagnostic tool called QbTest. It's an electronic CPT that is paired with an infrared camera for measuring motor activity.

A computerized diagnostic system could help reduce the time required to identify adult ADHD. Additionally, early detection would help patients manage their symptoms.

Numerous studies have examined the use of ML to detect ADHD. The majority of these studies have relied on MRI data. Certain studies have also considered eye movements. Some of the advantages of these methods include the accessibility and reliability of EEG signals. However, these methods have limitations in their sensitivity and accuracy.

A study conducted by Aalto University researchers analyzed children's eye movements during an online game in order to determine whether the ML algorithm could identify differences between normal and ADHD children. The results revealed that machine learning algorithms could be used to identify ADHD children.

Another study examined machine learning algorithms' efficiency. The results showed that random forest algorithms have a higher percentage of robustness and lower probability of predicting errors. A permutation test showed higher accuracy than randomly assigned labels.
