The goal of the clinical evaluation should be to determine an impairment. The impairment index of the CPT provides a measure of sensitivity. It is derived from the Full Scale Attention Quotient, the Full Scale Response Control, and the Total ADHD summation.

ADHD is characterized by hyperactivity and inattention scores of 6 or higher on the CPT. A Qb-Score of 1.5 is suggested as the minimum threshold for the diagnosis of ADHD in healthy populations.

The study found that malingerers over compensate for their skill deficits. This is why they had lower mean visual scores in both visual and auditory tasks. They could not fool the Auditory Prudence and Visual Focus tests.
