What Are the Different Types of Codes and How Do They Work?

There are 63 distinct code blocks that can be assigned to an aircraft. However, there are also reserved codes that prevent the use of specific codes in areas with high traffic or during emergencies. The discrete code blocks are configured by statistical analysis to reduce the chance that two aircraft with identical SQUAWK codes will be in the same sector at any one time.

PIN codes are often required by some OEMs for aftermarket key programmers to ensure that they are not used by people who are not authorized to steal data from modules.
VIN Numbers
VIN numbers are used to identify vehicles and provide an abundance of information about them. VIN numbers are unique for every vehicle on earth and are not applicable to alien vehicles (or whatever). The 17 numbers of a VIN code are a combination numbers and letters that can be decoded to reveal vital information about your car or truck.
Modern cars are digital libraries that contain a wealth of information about their history and the specifications. A VIN number is the key to unlock this data that allows you to find out everything from whether your car has been in a recall to how many times it's been owned by different owners.
Each part of a VIN number is a distinct piece of information. The first digit identifies for instance, what kind of vehicle it is, like as a pickup truck, or SUV. The second number is the manufacturer. The third digit represents the assembly division of the vehicle. The fourth through eighth digits represent the model type, the restraint system type and body type, along with the transmission and engine codes. The ninth digit functions as a check number to stop fraud. It ensures that the VIN is not altered.
In North America, the 10th through 17th digits of the VIN code are referred to as the Vehicle Identification Section, or VIS. The tenth and eleventh digits indicate the year of the vehicle's manufacture. The eleventh digit indicates which assembly plant produced the vehicle. Additionally the tenth through 17th digits may contain additional information, such as options or features that are included in the vehicle.
The VIN code is a serial number with six digits, which uniquely identify a car or truck. The last digit of the VIN code is also the check-digit. The remaining numbers have been converted into numbers. The first digit is assigned an 8 and each subsequent digit grows in value by one until the seventh digit is nine, which becomes two. Then, the whole VIN is transformed back into its original form by multiplying each digit's weight by 11. If the result is similar to the check digit, then the VIN is valid.
