What Freud Can Teach Us About Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item upgrade level by +3. A random extra substat is also increased with every upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. The item upgrades used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will display an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item level upgrade, more information, slot and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item upgrader kit has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through several methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if the items are from an entirely different set of equipment.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available once certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item level upgrade upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests with care, since they only have one use. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount when all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
