Components

Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue before the component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

The player is able to have up to five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will appear in the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear, even in the event that they don't know how much it will be improved after a reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be costly and there is a high possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break if it fails; a failure to upgrade can destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. When the player improves a piece of equipment, the base item will be replaced by a new item. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This could be a problem because it can make the item more expensive if you don't require it.
The upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, however it's not something that should be repeated often, as it can use up a lot of resources.
Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives an increase in power if the player is repeatedly in or leaves the water. Requirements

Whenever an item upgrader is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that, when a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit it will be applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item might have 5 upgrades, each costing 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items have lower costs per upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. The player will still need to take each piece of gear they wish to upgrade to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients needed to upgrade.
