Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
