WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item upgrader kit, but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. button, which displays an image of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade items costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations on the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require several methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with several new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level upgrade (check out your url) level will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items come from an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade item is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
