However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with how dirty they are.
