CEO.wiki Takedown Request Policy

CEO.wiki respects intellectual property rights and responds promptly to valid takedown requests. This page explains how to submit a takedown request for content you believe infringes your rights or contains inaccurate information about you.

Types of Takedown Requests

CEO.wiki accepts the following types of takedown requests:

Before Submitting a Request

Please consider the following:

  • CEO.wiki is an encyclopedia documenting public figures and publicly available information
  • Information about CEOs of public companies is generally considered newsworthy and of public interest
  • Negative but accurate information about public figures is not grounds for removal
  • We prioritize accuracy - if information is inaccurate, please provide correction with reliable sources
  • Many issues can be resolved by contacting us for a correction rather than a takedown

How to Submit a Takedown Request

To submit a formal takedown request:

  1. Use our Takedown Request Form
  2. Provide all required information (see below)
  3. Your request will be reviewed within 48 hours
  4. Content will be automatically hidden pending review
  5. You will receive email confirmation at the address provided

Required Information

All takedown requests must include:

  • Your full name and contact information
  • Your relationship to the content (subject of article, copyright holder, authorized representative)
  • Specific URL(s) of the content in question
  • Specific text or images to be removed (exact quotes or descriptions)
  • Legal basis for removal (copyright, privacy, defamation, etc.)
  • Supporting evidence (court orders, copyright registrations, proof of inaccuracy)
  • Good faith statement that the information provided is accurate
  • Electronic signature (typing your full name)

Automated Review Process

When you submit a takedown request:

  1. Immediate Action: The challenged content is automatically hidden from public view
  2. Email Notification: Our moderation team receives an email at [email protected] containing:
    • Full details of your request
    • Link to approve removal (permanently removes content)
    • Link to restore content (denies request and restores visibility)
  3. Review Timeline: Requests are reviewed within 48 hours
  4. Decision Notification: You receive an email with our decision

Our Review Standards

We evaluate requests based on:

  • Legal merit - Does the request cite valid legal grounds?
  • Specificity - Is the challenged content clearly identified?
  • Evidence - Is supporting documentation provided?
  • Public interest - Is the information newsworthy or historically significant?
  • Accuracy - For defamation claims, is the information demonstrably false?

Counter-Notifications

If your content was removed due to a takedown request and you believe the removal was improper:

Counter-notifications are reviewed within 48 hours.

Frivolous or Bad Faith Requests

CEO.wiki reserves the right to:

  • Ignore requests from repeat filers of frivolous claims
  • Publish information about bad faith takedown requests
  • Pursue legal remedies for fraudulent requests under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f)
