1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good deal particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in minutes.

Its flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good robot vacuum cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Additionally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic vacuum cleaner spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
