The Best robot vacuum cleaner UK robot vacuum cleaners reviews Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detector) are positives.

Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuums with mop vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored a perfect 10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and some extra cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Also a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd think from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
