WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level upgrade (morphomics.science) level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item upgrade will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using an button, which displays a preview of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and an issue.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with numerous new features added. Once an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies even if those items are from a different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item upgrade is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they only have one use. It is best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
