10 Things Everyone Hates About Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrades upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item upgrades used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current Item level upgrade (Telegra.ph) level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with the help of button, which will show a preview of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.
Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via various methods which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was modified a bit, and several new features added. After the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true even if the items come from an entirely different set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut also, but is only available after certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a few choices. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade item is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an Best item upgrader is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
