Path of Exile item level upgrade Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a frequent and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of extra damage, more AD or even more attaches.

In most cases, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be used on weapon and armor items. They improve the effectiveness of the item upgrade they are connected to. Armor upgrades are found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kit to recover upgrades from the items.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to absorb. Upgrading a piece of armor to maximum upgrade level will boost its damage absorption. However, it's important to note that this will also increase its weight, causing it to weigh more than before.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and each one has distinct effects. For example, some upgrades will grant the armor a certain amount of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item can receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade, as illustrated in the table below.

Some upgrades also feature magic or a mix of magic and technology, which is indicated by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require a charge to use, and are indicated by the "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are either constantly updated or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be found by exploring the area and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more costly, however, it is available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can provide significant improvement in performance and are worth the investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.

A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will greatly boost its defense however, the user must be aware that putting more weight on it can drastically decrease its speed and agility. Therefore, it is typically not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces above +9, since the added defense is usually not worth the weight and power costs of the improvements required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain firearms also have upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

The majority of upgrades to weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These are obtained through either finishing side quests, killing a certain amount of bosses or monsters, or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost that is based on a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars you will need to complete the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials The cost of upgrading will be less.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could do this until you reached a maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would reset.

This is still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear that has minimal upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These will then have a better chance of bringing you the best tier of bonuses and blessings.

To level up faster, most players will prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates utilize to increase their power. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are utilized in the sockets of armor and weapons, enhancing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, in which you combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gem is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The quality of a jewel can be improved upon by the Jeweler in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the level the jewel is in when it's slotted into jewelry, weapons, or other gear.

All levels of jewels can be made at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to obtain them. Jewels can be replaced by another one without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace the jewels in an equipment piece once.

The use of more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth and is typically performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to improving performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than metal, so repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.

In addition to the above upgrades players can also get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These are a small perk and are able to be swapped easily however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis can't be exchanged and can only be retrieved by using an Upgrade extractor, or salvaging with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that bestow an array of small, but beneficial advantages to your hero. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by doing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player can unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but valuable boost in movement speed and the ability to escape. The player can then collect rings, amulets and necklaces in a similar fashion similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with a slot for an upgrade that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows the hero to perform better when they are not active and may also help make up for a lack of a strong team or the absence of any slots from the talent tree which would normally be filled with the hero's best stats.

As a general rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best item upgrade in Slot) items that you will not replace soon. Next, any items with desirable statistics that aren't as important as the iLevel for the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when an item upgrader kit (relevant internet page) has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade, as it's usually more beneficial to upgrade one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.

Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one prior to the start of the game. Top and mid players on the other hand, will choose a pink or green ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices can impact a hero's ability to control the map.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets that form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be obtained through completing certain milestones in the story, such as finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. You can check them out by selecting the achievement from the reward section of the hero's menu.
