Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide To Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of damage, more AD or even more attaches.
Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to modernized Common or Magic gear due to their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item upgrades they are attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items with upgrade components in them using an expert or greater salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can take on. The absorption of damage by a piece armor will increase as it is upgraded to the highest upgrade level. However, it's important to be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, causing it to be heavier than it was before.
There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are that are available in the game and they all have different effects. Certain upgrades give armor an extra amount of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an item can receive, as shown below.
Some upgrades also feature magic or a hybrid of technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a fee to use, and are shown by an "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades are updated daily or never expire, according to the upgrade.
The cheapest way to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be gathered through exploring the surroundings and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, but it can be obtained from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can give significant boost to stats and are worth the cost, especially for single-handed weapons.
Upgrading a piece of armor to its maximum upgrade level will dramatically boost its defense but the wearer must be aware that putting more weight on it will dramatically reduce its speed and agility. For this reason, it is typically not recommended to upgrade armor pieces above +9, since the added defense is usually not worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain firearms have upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the risk of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.
The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.
To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade, you must visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain amount of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials The cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your weapon and equipment sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would be reset.
It's still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. You're better off buying gear that has low upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These items have a better likelihood of granting you highest level of blessings and perks.
To increase their level quicker, players usually prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates use to make them stronger. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost a stat or provide secondary effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method for creating them. You combine gemstones with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or through salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can boost the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the tier the jewel is in when it's slotted into jewelry, weapons, or equipment.
The Jeweler is able to create all kinds of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones which you must attain certain levels to gain. Jewels can be replaced by another one without damaging the original. You are able to replace the jewel once in an item upgrader kit of equipment.
Using more jewels in a move will make it more smooth, and is often done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Jewels also enhance performance and create a harder surface than steel, so that the repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to them.
A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your weapons and shields. These are a small perk and can be swapped out at any time but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis and traits, aren't swappable and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are a great way to give your character various small, but valuable advantages. They are available in the starting area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available through vendors and after completing road interaction. They can also be crafted by jewelers, and then found or purchased from the Trading Post.
The first trinkets a player can unlock is the cloak, which grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to movement speed and the ability to escape. Then, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in the same fashion to how the player can acquire armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be put into any type of equipment, while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded and is only compatible with certain types of trinkets.
These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This lets a hero be more efficient while inactive. It also helps compensate for the absence of good team or talent tree slots that are normally filled by the hero's best stats.
As a general rule trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. Next, any items with desirable stats that are less significant than the iLevel of the item upgrader that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an item. It is best to upgrade just one crucial stat rather than two suboptimal ones.
Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand they will select a green or a pink ward, depending on the matchup. These choices will have an impact on the ability of a hero to control the map.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also find a number of other trinkets throughout the game in the form of awards and trophies. They can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story, like the main quest of a chapter or destroying a boss. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
