The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and an automatic hoover bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum that vacuums and mops that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum with mop we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty the areas are.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
