The iRobot Roomba i3+ is a great robot vacuum with many smart features that make it easier to maintain. It's also easy to use and set up. Its ability to resumptuate where it left off during our tests is an additional impressive feature. It did this for 77 minutes on one cleaning, and then the battery ran out.
The i3+ EVO, unlike some of the other robot vacuums we have tested, comes with a self-emptying bin that automatically dumps debris in an external dirt container on the base of its charging once it's full. This reduces hands-on maintenance and also helps prevent the i3+ EVO from overfilling, but it still needs to be manually cleaned after each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's built-in dust bin can hold 2.4L of waste, which is enough to get it through four or five cleaning sessions before you have to replace it.
Like the i7model, this model is equipped with state-of-the-art floor washing robot tracking sensors to create maps and navigate in neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only store one map, while the i7 is able to store multiple. The map of the i7 can be used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones however, not the i3+ EVO.
The i3+ EVO does a better job of removing debris from the surface compared to some other robovacs we've looked at, but it's not the best robot vacuum at cleaning edges and corners. It's also less gentle on furniture despite being relatively quiet. It pulled chairs away from walls and made some collisions with the sides of our bed, and it got stuck on cords and toys while testing.
