WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item upgrades level by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade items.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item upgrade has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade item will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item upgrade from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through various methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is true even if those items are from a different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrade (read more) level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one usage therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
