World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item upgrading by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all the upgraded advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader you choose and what type of upgrade item you choose to make. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear since PvP is not available at a lower level. The average item level upgrade level is listed on the character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item can help players evaluate the potency of gear when they decide to buy or sell. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it will be capable of dealing with. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when evaluating the inventory of a vendor.

The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item upgrader mod's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are various theories on how the calculation of an item's level is made. One theory says that the item level is calculated using formulas that determine the value of an item's stats actually are. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems found in sockets increase the value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the region the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, for example by adding a level to its haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Item stats can make or break an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the best." The stat mods on an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill.

Upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to give items extra damage or special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by adding a name.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which of the available stats they want to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an exclusive item, or a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to boost. Like the base equipment, this must be done per item and the interface for item comparison will not show all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the chances of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more beneficial in early game runs than in later ones, as most players prioritize higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each item level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) for a further +40 luck or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Moreover there are certain items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items are available in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their items if it fails.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. All items have an initial success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects could be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
