It gathers and distributes clean trial data, ratings, and evaluations using PRECIS-2. Background
Pragmatic studies are increasingly acknowledged as providing evidence from the real world for clinical decision making. However, the use of the term "pragmatic" is not uniform and its definition and evaluation requires further clarification. Methods

Although the definition of pragmatism may not mean that trials must be 100% pragmatic, there are benefits to including pragmatic components in clinical trials. These include:

It is important to remember that the term "pragmatic trial" does not necessarily mean a poor quality trial, and indeed there is a growing number of clinical trials (as defined by MEDLINE search, however it is neither specific nor sensitive) which use the word "pragmatic" in their title or abstract. The use of these terms in titles and abstracts may suggest a greater awareness of the importance of pragmatism but it isn't clear if this is manifested in the contents of the articles.
Conclusions
As the importance of evidence from the real world becomes more widespread and pragmatic trials have gained momentum in research. They are clinical trials randomized that compare real-world care alternatives instead of experimental treatments in development, they include patients which are more closely resembling those treated in routine medical care, they utilize comparators that are used in routine practice (e.g. existing medications), and they depend on participants' self-reports of outcomes. This method has the potential to overcome the limitations of observational research, such as the biases associated with reliance on volunteers and limited accessibility and coding flexibility in national registries.
Other benefits of pragmatic trials include the possibility of using existing data sources, and a greater probability of detecting significant changes than traditional trials. The authors of the Pragmatic Free Trial Meta identified RCTs published from 2022 to 2022 that self-described themselves as pragmatic.
