WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item level Upgrade (daoqiao.net) upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item upgrader kit used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool using the help of button, which will show an item's preview at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was altered a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if the items come from another set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an item upgrading that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests only have one usage therefore it's essential to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
