Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of extra damage or more AD or even more attachments.

Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on weapon and armor items. They boost the effectiveness of the item upgrader mod they are attached to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged using an expert or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrade components from items.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can absorb. The damage absorption of a piece armor will increase when it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be more heavy.

There are a variety of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each has a different effect. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain amount of health points while others will make it lighter and stronger. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as illustrated in the table below.

Some upgrades also feature magic or a hybrid of magic and technology, which is shown by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require a charge to use, and are indicated by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades change daily or never expire, according to the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be found by exploring the area and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however it is obtainable from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give significant boost to performance and are worth the investment, particularly for one-handed weapons.

A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will significantly boost its defense however, the user must be aware that increasing its weight will dramatically reduce its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade item armor past +9. The added defense typically isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For instance an upgrade could increase the damage dealt by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of a rifle sniper. Some weapons also have special upgrades that improve their innate characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes weapon overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed to cause more damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades to weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade for applying. These can be obtained by finishing side quests, killing a certain amount of bosses or monsters, or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee of a set number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade, the more expensive the upgrade. The cost of upgrading will be less if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Previously you could go to an Upgrade Bench and pay for a specific amount of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to an increased quality. You could do this until you reached the maximum upgrade level for your equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would reset.

It's still possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment that has low levels of upgrade and high base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a chance at gaining you the best tier of benefits and blessings.

To level up faster, many players prioritise upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates use to make them stronger. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used in conjunction with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are placed in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. They can be created through the process of jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gem with a number of specific ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the level of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The quality of a jewel can be improved at the Jeweler, in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the gem it will give different stat boosts when inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry.

All tiers of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a sufficient level to obtain them. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without destroying the original. However, you can only replace one jewel in an equipment piece only once.

It is common to use more gems to enhance the appearance of. The jewels also improve performance and create a surface harder than steel so that repeated friction from pivots does not damage them.

In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades additionally, players can acquire glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and Scattered Crystal. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis are not swappable, and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that provide many small but useful benefits to your hero. They are available in the starting area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available from vendors and by doing road interaction. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. After that, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in the same manner to the way a player can acquire weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be placed in any type of equipment, while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded, and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows the hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It also helps compensate for the lack of a strong slot in the talent tree or team which are usually filled by a hero's top stats.

As a general rule trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace soon. Also, consider items with desirable stats that are less significant than the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is true especially if you want to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It is better to upgrade one important stat rather than two suboptimal ones.

Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one at the beginning of the game. Top and mid players, on the other hand they will select a green or a pink ward, depending on the matchup. These choices will have an impact on the ability of a hero to control the map.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets in the form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. They can be obtained through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing a chapter’s main quest or defeating a boss. They can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
