9 . What Your Parents Taught You About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.
Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its base stats are increased in value. This value is the total of all the upgraded benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to how many perks have to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.
It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can evaluate the levels of the item. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it's capable of dealing with. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller is possible using the item's level.
The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its value. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are a few theories on how the item level upgrade level calculation is made. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that various perks have different value and gems in sockets add to the item's overall value. This can lead to an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
However, this isn't the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, since the size of the area the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, for instance by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher value.
Item Stats
The stats of an item are a major component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.
Upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item, for example, will only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.
Another method of altering the stats of an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The affixes could be used to give the item extra damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by giving a special name to the item.
All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other options for rerolling.
Players can upgrade an item with specific stats, or reroll affixes. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However each item will have at least one stat in the same range, unless it's an exclusive item or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could be changed is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to roll the affixes, or choose which stats to boost. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis and the Best item upgrader compare interface will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the intensity of those properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is particularly useful in the early game, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.
Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant a further +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.
Additionally there are certain items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be bought from the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it fails.
When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%.
The luck of an item can influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has an initial success rate of 25% and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.
Note that item upgrade upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects could be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item Upgrader, telegra.ph, CORE client config.
