WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that are used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which displays an item upgrader mod's preview at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade items recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require a variety of means which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies even if the items come from another set of equipment.

The discount applies to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an Item level upgrade upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrade in the proper steps and paths.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one usage therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
