World of Warcraft Item Upgrade and Set Bonuses

While it's not explained in the universe why armor sets have to be worn together in order to create these extra effects, they can provide some variety when playing the game. The armor sets that come with Set Bonuses can be found in a variety of locations throughout Hyrule and include the Dark Moon and Twilight Temple.

Each piece of equipment included in a Set comes with a variety of Set bonuses that go along with it. You can identify which ones are available by hovering over the item and examining the tooltip, near the bottom. Set Bonuses are displayed in a box with the red border.

Certain of these set bonuses are exclusive to certain equipment. If you equip the entire Phantom Armor set, you will receive +8 defense (instead of the +3 defense you receive with other equipment). Some sets are only available through completing specific tasks or buying them from the Auction House.

It is also possible to obtain Set Bonuses on several pieces of equipment at the same time. If you own the complete Kestra's Descent Set and the corresponding parts of Twinblade of Shadow, you will be able to get the version with the + set's bonus if you be able to match them.

Unlike Effects, which change each time you upgrade them, Set Bonuses stay the same even when the pieces of equipment they're connected to rise. If an item is exemplared to levels that are too low the set bonus will stop working.

Set bonuses

Set bonuses are special effects that are available on a set of equipment that grants a bonus in combat. They offer a specific percentage of a particular stat, such as damage to weapons, defenses or resistances. They do not stack, however; only one of them can be used at any time. The amount of a stat is determined by how many pieces of the set have been used which means you could have three chests and one armour, and four weapons for instance, but only the one that has the highest bonus will be of benefit to you.

In general, they increase the primary stats of a piece, but they also boost secondary stats as well. Defence bonuses boost three positional defense values and two defense types as an example a complete five-piece set of Hundings Rage will add up to a total of around 400 defense in your equipment. This is a large increase in your gear, particularly as melee characters.

This is an excellent feature and one of the most popular in the game. There are currently only a handful of sets of gear have set bonuses. They are only available on the Test Realm.
