WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item upgrades, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the item level Upgrade's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The upgrade items discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require a variety of means, which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and numerous new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a specific Best item upgrade level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less even if they are part of a different gear set.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item upgrader mod that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade items. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the kind of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment you have, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
