World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items can be used to boost the stats of a particular item level upgrade. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its basic stats increase in value. This is the sum of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader you choose and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It also serves to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). The average level of an item can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell gear, players can compare the level of an item. It's a useful indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it will be able to deal. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when looking at the inventory of a vendor.

On PC, you are able to view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories about how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that various perks have different value and gems in sockets add to the value of the item overall. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

However, this is not the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, because the level of the area the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The base stats on a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modifications, which are themselves enhanced by the player's level.

The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item for instance, can only be upgraded one time, while an item upgrader kit with rare tiers may be upgraded several times at more expensive costs.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item upgrading by the player and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The affixes are used to give items additional damage or special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by adding a name.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which of the available stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat in the same range, unless it's an exclusive item or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be altered by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the chance of finding items and the properties that are generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players the chance to acquire better gear in earlier waves and is thus more valuable in the initial game run than later ones as most players prioritize higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of the item up to 140.

Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or created using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are expensive and not all upgrades will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade item failing can't be greater than 100%..

The luck of an item may affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an initial success rate of 25%, and every item that has Luck increases that chance by five percent.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects could be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
