Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.

Components

Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to blue before the component can be applied. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging ascended gear or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A boost upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. You will often find in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the Best item upgrade method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes faster.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. Leveling

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined by its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its base value. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have a lower cost per upgrade.
Premium items could have different upgrade requirements from regular gear. For instance, they may need less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko in Central Flarine. Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of the ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the expenses listed above.
