Additionally, they place her in an incredibly small tank that is only one-and-a-half times the size of her natural habitat.
Fortunately, in 2022, the new owner of Miami Seaquarium pledged to work with a group of Lolita blue & gold Mindy catalina macaw (he has a good point) advocates called Friends of Toki and the Lummi tribe, who consider her a relative in a plan to eventually transport her to open waters. After years of pressure from PETA and others, the Miami Seaquarium has finally released Lolita to a sanctuary at the sea, where she can take a deep dive in the ocean, perhaps even reunited with her orca mother. Sadly, these plans came too late for the beloved whale who died on Friday of what was believed to be a renal issue.
