Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a frequent and crucial method to enhance the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of additional damage or more AD or even more attachments.

Rare-grade equipment is often superior to upgraded Common or Magic gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They increase the performance of the item they are connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a specialist or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrade components from other items.

The amount of damage an armored item or weapon will absorb is contingent on the level of its upgrades. The absorption of damage by an armor piece will increase when it's upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it should be heavier.

There are several different types of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different impact. Certain upgrades grant armor an additional number of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an item can receive, as shown below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, as shown by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Certain upgrades require charges for use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges for these upgrades are updated every day or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest option to improve your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can provide significant boost in stats, and are definitely worth the cost.

The player must be aware, however, that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it will also reduce its agility and its speed. This is why it is generally not recommended to upgrade armor pieces beyond +9, because the increase in defense is usually not worth the extra weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells do. Some weapons also have special upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

Most upgrades for weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. These can be obtained by finishing side quests, taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade item level, the more bars are required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would reset.

It's still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear that has minimal upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a greater chance of granting you the highest level of advantages and benefits.

Most players will want to prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they use most frequently to help them level up quicker. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their squadmates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when accompanied by biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to boost a stat or provide secondary effects in weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, in which you combine the gemstone with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gemstone has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The quality of a jewel can be improved upon by the Jeweler in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel it will give different stat boosts when inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry.

All levels of jewels can be made at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a high enough level to obtain these. Like other upgrade components jewels are able to be swapped with a identical jewel without destroying the original one. You can only replace the gem once in an item of equipment.

Utilizing more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth and is usually used to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction with pivots doesn't damage them as easily.

In addition to the above upgrades additionally, players can get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These are a small perk and are able to be swapped easily however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis cannot be exchanged and can only be retrieved through an upgrade extractor, or salvaging with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that provide an array of small but useful benefits to your hero. They are available in the starter area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinkets a player can unlock is the cloak, which grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to movement speed and the ability to escape. After that, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in the same manner to the way a player can acquire weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade items slot that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't in combat. This allows a hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It can also compensate for the absence of excellent team or talent tree slots that are normally filled by a hero's top stats.

In general, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. Then, you should consider any items that have desirable statistics aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item upgrader that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an Item Upgrader Kit. It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat instead of two subpar ones.

At the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and mid players usually choose a green or pink ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's map control abilities.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets in the form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story, such as the main quest of a chapter or killing a certain boss. These achievements can be seen by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
