It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
