WoW Upgrades - The item upgrading Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. The item upgrader mod used to upgrade the item level upgrade will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which will show an image of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item level Upgrade upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require several methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will be less expensive, even if they are part of a different gear set.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available once certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important modification is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality gear.
