It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses it's worth looking for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
