The best automatic vacuum Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum can sweep and vacuum your floors without your involvement. It also leaves the floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Be sure to check your robot's brushes for tangled hair as well as large debris and clean them as needed. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin located at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums uk vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic automatic vacuum and mop/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competition. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd think from its price. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
