WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same Best item upgrader from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that are used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade item level if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item upgrader kit and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade items system was tweaked a bit, with some new features added. After the player has upgraded to a certain level of Item Level Upgrade for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is even if the items come from a different set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available when certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one usage, so it's important to use them wisely. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
