1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it fills up.
Both robots are good at removing surface dirt on floors and carpets and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested. It may get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between surfaces, such as rug and hardwood.
iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it left off. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of constant use. It takes three hours to charge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot and is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any best robot vacuum for vinyl plank floors vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can direct your robot using the app or by voice.
The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying, which removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the cost of maintenance.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room and sweep an area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. After connecting, we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of vacuums that are cordless and look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households, but it also fits perfectly next to the table for a coffee or shelves that you can spin around like a magic tool.
The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries, which produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It has three suction modes to meet the task being performed. It is able to quickly switch between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.
The model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also provides easy access to 2 attachments and an wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its short running time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a common battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. It's enough time to clean a typical-sized home however, it's not enough time to get into every corner. (A second run generally works). That's not to say this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on a robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris and sizes in our tests and would often go over the same area several times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front side helps to get into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice feature.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our Top Rated Robot Vacuum selections, the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has less parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower recurring cost and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is able to better maneuver itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges faster.
The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most reasons, since it has a longer battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand and has physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not a surprise, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has a cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app provides plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior customization docking frequency settings and much more. The app is easy to navigate and use, just like other Samsung devices.
In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. However, it wasn't particularly well at avoiding taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we've tested and could be a problem for some buyers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to check in on your pets or children while you're away. The filter and the dust bin can be washed to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic clean station which helps to keep the robot's bin clear and improves suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Contrary to other robotic vacuum cleaners vacuums that are made for hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and a larger dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than competitors to keep the area clean for the longest time. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers to clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level according to whether it's collecting surface dirt or embedded dirt. The vacuum also comes with an app that allows you to view an interactive map, control functions, and set schedules. Additionally, you can track the vacuum's battery status and return it to its dock for charging at the touch of a button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on top robot vacuum cleaner of the vacuum by using different colors so you can easily identify the areas where it's focused or where it's got stuck.
The app makes it possible to steer the best robot vacuum manually when needed. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. However the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
