WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of button, which will show a preview of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item level Upgrade is upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via several methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is even if those items are from an entirely different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrade upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade items the item upgrades in the proper steps and pathways.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
