Study of Chinese Learners' Pedagogical Choices in Korean

Discourse Construction Tests

They were also required to provide reflections on their evaluations and their refusals to participate in RIs. The results showed that CLKs are more likely to defy native Korean pragmatism norms. Their choices were influenced primarily by four factors: their personalities and multilingual identities, their ongoing lives and their relationship affordances. These findings have pedagogical implications for L2 Korean assessment and teaching.

First, the MQ data were analyzed to determine the participants' rational choices. The data was classified according to Ishihara (2010)'s definition of pragmatic resistance. Then, the responses were matched with their linguistic performance in DCTs to determine whether they were a reflection of pragmatic resistance or not. The interviewees were asked to explain their choices of behavior in a specific situation.

The findings of the MQs and DCTs were then examined using descriptive statistics and Z-tests. They attributed their decision to learner-internal variables such as their identities and personalities as well as multilingual identities.
