Upgrades can sometimes increase the power of a piece and at times even add additional features. The value of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements, and the amount of random enhancements used.
The racial Shield elite Razortail, for example, is usually upgraded to improve its lightning absorption capability in PvP or provide additional defenses to missile-based builds in the PvM. This makes it more tradeable than the perfect non-upgraded version.
Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens permit you to roll a purchased item like armor, weapon, or ring. This replaces the item with another item upgrading of the same type, but with different bonuses. Reroll tokens are a cost-effective way to upgrade gear. They don't keep the original equipment's condition and any money wasted won't get compensated.
The survivors can get tokens to reroll in many ways, including the Mistery Box and rare drops from skulled creatures. They can be located in crates and chests or purchased from the store for 150k each. Reroll tokens can be used to change an attribute of an item for example, increasing its damage or giving it a new stat.
Players can roll their equipment using three attributes: physical power, magic power, and health. The number of Growth Stones required to upgrade an item will depend on its rarity. Rare (blue) rarer weapons will require more than one Growth Stone, while uncommon armor only requires one Growth Stone.
After deciding on what to upgrade, players must then select the number of green Growth Stones they wish to use and pay the appropriate cost. Once the player has satisfied the requirements, he can select the upgrade option and apply the Growth Stones. This will raise the item's level a certain percentage. The upgrade process can last anywhere from seconds to several minutes, based on the rarity of the item.

When an item reaches its maximum level that it can no longer have the option to upgrade. When a piece of equipment is upgraded to a certain track (e.g. Upgrades for the Veteran or Explorer track ) they will be discounted.
Upgrade components are a form of equipment that can be inserted into armors, weapons trinkets, tools for gathering and weapons to provide an extra effect or attribute bonus when the equipment is being used. They can be bought through vendors, looted or obtained through questing. They can also be traded between players. Upgrade components can be swapped by acquiring new ones. However, this could ruin the previous upgrade.

Upgrades can be beneficial to certain items, but not because they boost stats. They are more valuable for the players when they achieve an exact roll. For instance, a flawlessly rolled 200/6 504 armor set piece is highly sought-after in the melee PvP community and could be worth 20-50 times the value of the unupp'd version.
The game will show you the requirements once you choose the upgrade component that goes into the item. These include the item type (either Armor or Weapon) the tier of the item as well as the upgrade Token needed, and the amount of progress needed to complete the upgrade item.
