Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.

Components

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values can enhance a stat by. The value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
