The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot vacuum robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and an automatic vacuum cleaner bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and offer better cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot automatic vacuum and mop/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuums best vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing to put up some more volume and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house depending on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot hoover and mop mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
