The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units This robot autonomous vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry the mop pads.

It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
