The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot Vacuum Cleaners Best hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detector) are both positives.

Be sure to check your robot's brushes for tangled hair and large particles and clean them as required. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also quiet and can be used when you're at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum and mop that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuums best we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum with mop vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuum that mops vacuums we have tested. It also has an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
