They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also quiet and can be used when you're at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum and mop that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuums best we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
