Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A bagless robot vacuum vacuum can keep your floors tidy enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Choose a robot vacuum with good navigation, can clean stairs and corners and has a large bin that needs to be cleaned out every now and then.

There are models that mop and charge themselves, which is a feature important for families with children or pets. A lot of the top performers in our tests also have good obstacle avoidance.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots that differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. That makes the i3+ a good option for those looking for a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it is full.

Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off hard floors and carpets, and they are very good at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it might encounter. You should also keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and takes the dirt out of the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning from where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or through the app.

The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to begin or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task that is being completed. It can quickly switch from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum and vice versa.

This model has an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments and the handheld. This is a big improvement over earlier Dysons, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. Its marketing claims that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are not true as CR's tests have shown. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. It's enough time to vacuum a typical-sized home but not enough to reach every spot. (A second run generally works). However, this model doesn't have its benefits It's lighter and more agile than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a standard best automatic floor cleaner value robot vacuum (click the following page) vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on the latest model of robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area many times for an efficient clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice addition.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot cleaner is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has less parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower costs for recurring expenses, has more advanced automation capabilities and can better move itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most reasons, since it has a better battery life, can change its suction power mode on its own and has physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not surprising that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a wide range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and much more. It's simple to comprehend and is user-friendly, which is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we tested which could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.

The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature allows you to check in on your children or pets while you're away. The dustbin and filter can be cleaned for quick, easy cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that's self-emptying to keep the robot's trash bin clean and maximizes suction power for each cleaning run.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard flooring. The robots come with an extra wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2 times larger than other models. This lets them keep the area clean for longer. They also have two side sweepers that can be used to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell the presence of surface litter or embedded dirt and then automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also comes with an app that lets users to see the virtual map, manage functions, and schedules. You can also monitor the vacuum's status and send it to its dock for charging at the press of a single button. The app allows you to personalize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum by using different colors, so you can clearly see the areas where it's focused or where it's gotten stuck.

The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually when needed. For example, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to cause confusion for other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL, however, continued to move across the border without ever registering the edge. Also, the ability to set up a weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
