WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for the latter due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade item will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item upgrader kit will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that are used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other items. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with an The button will display a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and current item upgrading level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.

Upgraders for items are available at many locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item level upgrade (Heavenarticle.com) upgrader at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and an issue.

In Season 3 the upgrade items system has been altered a bit, with numerous new features added. After the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if the items are from another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be spent on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
