The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear rating of an item up to 700 points and add a bonus. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory before heading to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading due to their distinctive stats. (For example an excellently roll breakpoint armor is used in melee PvP). Other items, like weapons don't change much after an upgrade and therefore aren't worth the cost.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. Some weapons also have an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a unit. In some cases this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon can sustain on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity and level. For example the weapon with a +2 rating will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will increase until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.

Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. This is generally a positive aspect, but it may also have negative consequences. For items that are only used in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can render them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely fortunate roll.

Armor items can also be upgraded to increase their stats. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms, this will increase its base defense while gloves and belts enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it is able to reduce its value.

The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats that it will gain upon upgrading, along with their respective values. This means that a weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will be hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button in the item menu with the circling arrows. This will roll an item and alter its stats, but it will not reset the weapon's levels or bind it to account status.

Armor

Adding a few upgrades to your armor could make a an enormous difference in your ability to endure. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE boosts to poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, making the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the more defense you have for your character, the greater health you will receive from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.

To upgrade your armor, go to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four in total, and each requires you to complete a unique side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the main quest and the associated fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.

The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. You'll need anywhere from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. For example, the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a large group of enemies in the majority of cold climates and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, granting you enough protection to survive an entire raid with a few friends.

Be aware that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll need to concentrate on enhancing it to increase physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're Mage. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades for the armor you'll wear at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

You can also get some benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. You'll typically want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game. For instance the Longsword or Battleaxe. But it's useful to have some upgrades for the armor on your chest and helmets to let you get around a few monsters.

Potions

Potions are substances in bottles that, when consumed, give the player a temporary status effect. There are five different types of potions, each having specific effects and durations. To upgrade a potion you need to right-click it in your inventory. Then select "Upgrade" from the menu. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total XP you have.

Once a potion has been upgraded, it will not degrade until you use it again or break the bottle it is stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will allow you to change the name of the potion.

Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the mechanics of potions. For example, splash potions now have an average duration of 0.08 seconds (this is not the equivalent of 22.5 seconds displayed on the hover display of the item upgrader Kit (mariskamast.net)). The table for potion can now be crafted with four Wood Planks and two Glass. It is now able to be utilized in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons like Java Edition. The same is true for the use of a potion in an empty cauldron. This will drain the potion, and refill the bottle.

Lastly, there are now lingering potions that are made using splash and dragon breath potions. Similarly, a lingering potions effect can be extended by adding redstone. The table of potions is laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as the potion of leaping and the decomposition potion, as well as turtle master potions.

Trinkets

Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a brand new trinket. A player can upgrade their trinket for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same base level as the old trinket but will also have an additional 1% bonus upgrade.

Once the old Trinkets have become no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players, making them an attractive alternative to gold.

In general players should make upgrades to their top-priority items first. This means that the Best item upgrader-in slot items for each class are first upgraded then their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment that won't be replacing anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). When choosing which items to upgrade players must also take into account the preferred statistics of their class. For example If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tankers, they should prioritize upgrading their helm, chest, shoulders, and belt.

When they are no longer useful, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The upgraded trinket will give you an additional 1% bonus. However, a re-upgrade can cause the trinket to be destroyed in the event that it is not salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, but is still less expensive than buying a new one.
